Need I say more… ’No contacts, no business’ is one of the basic principles in Israel and many acquaintances and friends told me this already. However sometimes you need to experience to really know. The last weeks I tried hard to get the right contact in a big Israeli company. Mailing the service desk four times did not give any reaction. I called two times, but at their call-center nobody did not even understand what I was looking for; luckily I was convinced the company offers the service I was looking for. Being a little bit aware of the need to know somebody, that knows somebody, I started to ask everybody I know whether they had a contact in that company. Yesterday I succeeded, got a number and called today… guess what.. I found the right guy…To be continued.

Still busy with finishing my thesis sometimes ( it is hard, but I am sure I will succeed soon) I found this Chinese proverb somewhere…These kinds of wisdom keep attracting me: “you will learn by doing, not by studying” (I know this is a rough interpretation, however….). The last weeks I slowly started to contact companies and people that have my interest with the regard to starting up the business in Israel. In the last two weeks I mailed about four persons, of whom no one replied. As I am used to send comprehensive and well explaining mails to people that do not know me, I tried to do so here as well. But as you know already: this did not work. This mourning I sent a mail in which I showed a little irritation Read the rest of this entry »

This is the encouraging Israeli wisdom that people tend to havee about doing business in Israel. This can mean a couple of things:
- It is really hard to do business in Israel
- People are negative about doing business, therefore
- I once understood that many people give it a shot in Israel. This could be making it harder to succeed, because of more competition.
Thinking about all the multiple choice exams I had at the university You can also say: all are true, just one is true etc..However I can conclude from this:
- It is reasonable that it will be really hard to start up here
- If we succeed here (in the Netherlands the Zaypay concept proved itself already) we (Zaypay) will be even more sure that we have a concept that is able to ‘conquer the world’.
Overall it is clear…. It will be a hard, but interesting time, which i hopefully will feel good about if I look back later. Anyhow I had a good week this week, so, let’s see!
